The shelters are beginning to feel the effects of the down turn of the economy and especially the housing market problems. We have started receiving emails that some of the shelters are seeing a large increase in the number of pets turned into them because of the economy. Some of the shelters are having to put more animals into kennel runs than they were designed to handle. Shelter environments are very stressful and having over crowded kennels makes the situation that much worse.
