Welcome to the Golden Gate Labrador Rescue blog. You can visit our webpage at http://www.labrescue.org to see a list of Labs available through us as well as Labs and Lab mixes that are available from other rescue groups and shelters in the San Francisco bay area.
Our service area is the San Francisco bay area. We only place Labs with adopters within our service area. We have had to do this because we have had problems in the past with people adopting dogs who live out side our area, then deciding they no longer want the dog and refusing to drive the dog back to us.
I tend to post Labs and Lab mixes from shelters that are not really in our service area. I do this because they are in rural areas that tend to have a lot more dogs than adopters. We have been very successful in helping find homes for dogs at the Merced, Tehama, Madera, and Nevada County Shelters. I receive emails frequently from adopters that say they drive 3 hours to adopt a Lab they see on our website. I have also heard that because the shelters know that we send people to their shelters , they tend to keep dogs at the shelters longer before they are being put to sleep.
Our rescue is a made up of a very small group of Lab owners. "If you know of a Lab in need of a home or a home in need of a Lab" contact us (as long as you are in the SF bay area).
Please visit our website at http://labrescue.org . It's updated each evening after work.
