We just received a very nice email from a family that adopted one of our dogs in Dec.

Feb 2009

We adopted Onix in December 2008, after having put down our only 5 year old female(and only having her for 2.5 years) in May, 2008 due to kidney failure.

We had just moved into a new house a month prior and felt it was time for a new addition to our family. We saw Onix on the site and since he was close by in Menlo Park, we called Holly, the representative and agreed for a visit. When we greeted him for the first time at the vet, he immediately enamored himself to us. He took a long walk around the neighborhood and was very obdient and inquisitive (as labs should be) but not a tractor dog. Holly walked along with us and by the end of the walk, two great things occurred. 1st, we were able to save Holly a drive up to Benicia because 2nd, we decided to adopt him right there on the spot.

He loaded up into the back without any fuss and settled down nicely. When we picked our kids up from school, they were so excited and he showed their love back with kisses and nuzzling. >From the first day, he always goes with us in the car to drop off and pick up from school.

He has become so much a part of our family and loves to have his belly scratched and rubbed. He has an upstairs pillow and a downstairs one. He is obedient, calm (thank god, compared to our previous lab) and sooo loving. It is such a bright spot in everyones day whenever he sees us and happily comes to say hi. When our son sits down next to him on his pillow, he immediately puts his head in his lap and gently takes pets and rubs.

Onix's story of coming to Labrescue was not one of neglect or abuse, but rather an overwhelming situation from the previous owner and we are grateful to have been given the chance to have such a wonderful dog come into our lives.

Thank you lab rescue.

We rescued two, 9 week old Lab pups that were abandoned in a box in front of someone's home. The female pup was adopted today and will go to her new home on Saturday. The male pup, named Lincoln,is following around his foster mother. When she stops and sits down he snuggles by her feet. Take a look at our website at http://www.labrescue.org to see a list of all the dogs that are available for adoption through our rescue group as well as other rescue groups as well as bay area shelters. Thanks for looking. Golden Gate Lab Rescue

Izzie 3 yrs old black female /mix spayed 40lbs Issie is from S.F. Animal Care and Control where she was brought in as a stray. S.F.A.C.C. asked us to take her because she was too frightened and was not doing well there. Since we've taken her out things have gotten much better. Izzie has proven to be a really good dog. She is very sweet and listens very well. She knows most basic commands, is housebroken, and is very good with other dogs. She would make a very good second dog in a family. At the dog park she has done well with both people and dogs. We do not know about cats.
In her foster home Izzie has been a very good guest and has gotten along very well with their three dogs. She loves to play ball . For more information call Don at 650 359-0981

We started receiving emails from various people that there was a litter of black Lab mix puppies that were found on a road and the people that picked them up were going to take them to the shelter. Apparently, this was from the fall of 2007. So if you are sent this email, disregard it.

We are still receiving requests from people to help find homes for their dogs because they are being forced out of the homes. So far we have been able to help. Our website has really helped us increase the number of dogs we help place. In 2008 we helped place over 350 Labs and Lab mixes. Please pass our website url to your friends and family that may be interested in adopting a Lab or Lab mix. Thanks, Golden Gate Lab Rescue
